Hi to every one. This page is great to have. Thanks to Dave and anyone else for creating and maintaining it. This past weekend Paul Busch past away. I also thought of him as a very gentle man with the ability to bring out in young men their best. I have stayed in touch with him since high school and felt privilaged to enjoy his friendship. He was unassuming yet lead by example, and he will be missed very much.

Paul Busch was recently diagnosed with an aggressive, inoperable cancer. At the last home football game of this season - October 20th, the Roseville school district will host a dedication of the newly installed track in Paul's honor. Those who are interested in attending will be admitted to the RAHS stadium at no charge and a brief ceremony will begin at 6:50pm - to last no longer than 10 minutes. Suggested arrival time would be 6:30 - 6:40.

Ramsey's class of '69 had their 40th reunion last Saturday night. My sister went to it and said she had fun seeing everyone. We need to start planning our 40th reunion pretty soon or we'll miss out. Thank you Jim Moore for forwarding the info about Tom Maze. My condolences to Tom's family. Many of us are far from our hometown of Roseville and the only way we hear of happenings about our fellow graduates and old friends is by getting these emails. Thank you all who keep this going.

Tom's wife Leslie decide to do an open house memorial for Tom. There is no plans for a funeral. Tom was cremated. She asked me to get the word out. This is from the St Paul Paper this morning: Maze, Thomas Harold, Ph.D., P.E. Age 57 Of White Bear Lake, MN Died on Monday June 8th after a long struggle with heart disease. He was survived by his loving wife, Leslie Maze, step daughters Lauren Krause, Julie Crothers; his sisters Marilyn Maze, Marty Euwema and their families. Tom was a professor of Civil Engineering at Iowa State University Institute for Transportation. Friends are invited to join the family in remembering Tom at the house on Bald Eagle Lake Saturday June 13th from 4-6P.M. Cremation Society of MN Minneapolis (612)-825-2435 Leslie lives 3 doors down from me on the lake. Their home is at 5280 Bald Eagle Blvd E. She lives on the SE corner of the lake.

My heartfelt words go out to my classmates...Tom was the sweetest guy. Always smiling , gentle, teddy bear of a guy. My heart is sad and he will be thought of with fondest of memories.

Thank you, Jim, for letting us know about Tom. I forwarded your email to several others from our class in case they hadn't heard. It's been awhile since we have lost a classmate. I remember Tom all the way back to elementary school. He never fit into our little desks back then which must have been awfully uncomfortable for him. He was a very very nice person. I'm sorry to hear about that. Tom and I e-mailed back and forth a little after he was sick before. Sounded as though he beat his illness. If anyone hears of a service please let us know.

I'm sorry to report that Tom Maze died today. He had been in the U of MN hospital for about a month with serious heart problems due to his problem of several years ago. Tom was able to get back to work at Iowa State, but never fully recovered. There will be no memorial or funeral at this time.

I found the three teachers for Mark. Mr. Bergstedt lives in a senior co-op in Roseville, Ms. Berg lives in St. Paul and it looks like Dan Peterson may still be teaching at Roseville :)

Bruce, if no one knows right where they are now you can try calling the Roseville school district office at 651-635-1600. They can't give out info. on teachers but they may be willing to relay a message and have the teacher contact you if they are willing and able. Two of my favorites from Coach Goedeke... Don't get your dauber down. Keep your zipper up boys. His 10th grade health class was very memorable. He told some great stories.

Coach Goedeke passed away. The Obituary will be in the Pioneer Press on Wednesday or Thursday this week. The service will be held at St. Christophers Church in Roseville sometime on Sunday.

Before living in St. Paul, I spent part of 2nd grade in Marine on the St. Croix, but I was never *on* it in anything but a motorboat. Dunno if anyone caught it, but the St. Croix made national news as the 10th most endangered river in the US:

Hi to all my classmates. I am so pleased Dr. Broose clued me into this Web site. It was terrif to read your notes. I am genuinely happy to learn all seem to be doing well. To my ol’ chums: thanks. To those I pissed off: sorry. I was a smart-ass back then, wasn’t I? For anyone who’s curious, the answers are “no.” No, I am no longer acting and, no, I am no longer married. I quit theater after one too many wretched off-off-off-Broadway embarrassments and hung up the dancin’ shoes when an injury in class never healed properly. I fell into public relations and had a career that still surprises me when I look back on it. I’ve met amazing people I never imagined I’d meet. Somewhere in the archives at 30 Rock there’s a rogue videotape of me singing “Let It Snow!” with Katie Couric. I now live in Connecticut with my cat, Oliver, and write for trades and local papers. Most of the scribblings are the same smarty-pants stuff I wrote for Blueprint, only funnier and a bit more polished. After my divorce, I bought a motorcycle and haven’t been off the saddle since. Lovin’ every mile of the ride, too, and have no intention of packing away the boots and Ray-Bans soon. Hope someone puts together a 40th reunion. I had a ball at the 20th.

Hi all. A few of us 1970 type women had thought of getting together this summer. Can we schedule a planning session for sometime, somewhere central in June - maybe at Central Park (hoping all interested parties will be there), and take it from there for planning an event in 2010? Planning is half the fun (and anticipation is more than half.....) so this would be a start. I'm not really living here full time except for the summer months, but I can help out. Glad to see some interest. We all have this shared history which is pretty neat. (remember Neat??!!!) Just talked to Di Fri who also will help out I'm sure. Take it away Rick!

I'm telling you, a boat sounds wonderful. Cruising the beautiful St. Croix, beautiful night.......but what if something happens? Heart attack? I was on that boat when a guy had a heart attack. Just so happened the St. Paul Fire Cheif and about 40 fire fighers were on boardm to help and he called ahead and got the guy to the hospital in time. That's a little extreme but I've been on those boat cruises and they never seem to work out. In fear of being called "Mr. Negativity" that's all I'll say about that. We do, after all have a whole year to worry about it. If anyone wants to get together informally this summer let's do!

I think a boat sounds like a great idea. They have rails on the side for people who might get lost and wander off the side of the boat. No set up and clean up either. If it is too pricy for some, perhaps we could all pitch in to form a fund to help. Or then again, a pot luck picnic by the river would also be fun. The problem there is no rails.

Do ya think Jim would still get lost, afterall it's at the end of that shall remain unnamed highway that runs in front of the old high school...

I don't know about a boat. We wouldn't want anyone getting thrown over board. What if Jimmy Meehan got lost on the way and was late arriving and the boat had left the dock. Then there's the person who's had just a little too much to drink. Tough to send him home in a cab if you're on the river.I could go on. Does it sound like I don't think the boat is a good idea. I'm going to be quite right now or moore will think I'm volenteering to run the show!

A good place for a reunion would be renting one of the Stillwater paddlewheels. We've done it for work and you get the whole boat for the evening all to yourselves. Nope, don't wanna plan it. But it's easy to do - everyone calls in their own credit card reserv. right to the paddlewheel company. Someone think about it. Am really enjoying the renewed interest from classmates and hearing from y'all.

You may have to go get Jimmy and show him where Roseville is. Just kidding Jim, I have "Oldtimers" events all the time.

Hi! I am married with 3 children, Brian (31), Christopher (27) and Ashley (22). I also have 4 grandchildren. Our family keeps us pretty busy. We're now planning our daugher's wedding a year from May. We moved to Hugo almost 5 years ago and are enjoying living a more private setting from living near Maplewood Mall for nearly 25 years. I still am in contact with a few Ramsey grads. I am going to my 35th college reunion this spring and I think it would be great to have a 40th for us. I still teach so summer would be best. I am willing to help if someone wants to be in charge. I am the proud grandmother of a 3 month old grandson who is awesome. Too bad they don't live close. They are moving to Indiana in June where my son in law is to begin a PhD program in astrophysics at Purdue. That's a long way from Denver. All is well at my house. Almost forgot about being such a trouble-maker, but yes I confess. The votes were never close. What I expected was that someone would recognize right away that the room I listed didn't exist (take the last room number on one of the second-floor hallways and add one) and I would be summarily drummed out. But the months dragged on ... Now I did have a Deep Throat who gave me a Certificate of Service anyway at the end of the year :) Anyway, Chuck, I'd count on you not to be able to hold a grudge for 40 years!

I remember Bruce well. He went under cover for the school news paper as an "Extra" member of the Student council. He would vote along with the "real" members on all things council. He then exposed me in the paper. Very forward thinking as Woodward and Berstein hadn't done thier thing yet. Pretty cool if you think about it. It would be great to have a 40th. Hi to everyone I knew and sort of knew at Ramsey. I came across Dave's web site by accident and saw that I was listed as lost. Not a surprise, I went to the U of M and then lived in Madison, Santa Barbara, Boulder, Philadelphia, Boston and, for the last 21 years, Houston. I went the science route, never married (sheesh, how do you folks with 3-4 kids handle college nowadays?!?), have worked in research and graduate and undergraduate research programs for a while at Rice Univ. It's been 34 years since I lived in MN, but I carry the midwestern attitude from those growing years wherever I go. If my neighbors needed their car pushed out of a snowbank, I'd be happy to oblige. Pretty safe statement in Houston. Actually, I've been back for a couple days many New Years just to remember what cold is like. You did yourself proudly this last year, but still nothing like 1983 or 1984 (-35 & -80 wind chill). Back then I used to be able to tell people I went to Loni Anderson's high school, but students nowadays just give blank looks. I can still tell them I went to MacGyver's high school. Reading through the material on the web site, there were a couple posters I've seen remotely. Like "Minneapolis Jim Meehan" showing up at holdem tables. (Why wasn't it "St. Paul Jim Meehan?":) And after reading Steve Wood's post, I went back and looked at the famous 1978 Microsoft team picture I'd seen dozens of times and, bygawd, there's Steve upper left. Hello to the Lauderdaleans who posted, there were a few. Mark Johnson told me long ago about Jeff Weihe's directing Newton's Apple, good job. Let me get this right, our elementary school and our high school no longer exist? What about Fairview? Sigh. In moving around, I have gained a lot of posthumous respect for our old MN public schools. It's good to see all the info on the site, thanks. Lots of years have passed, hopefully everyone has managed to avoid becoming their parents :)

Dear Classmates With all the bad news we have received about our classmates on the Ramsey listserve, I can buck the trend and add some of my own good news. The email about six months ago about my heart failure and impending death was not entire correct. I was very sick but my heart seem to working OK now and, although I will never bare foot water ski, I should be able to do most things OK. For example, now I am planning a Scuba driving trip in December. I did suffer some pretty serious but temporary muscle damage as a side effect of the drugs. Since we are all facing age where we will need an AARP cocktail – Lipitor and blood pressure lowering medicine, I thought I would prepare you with some of my experience. Lipton and most other anti cholesterol drugs are known as Statins. Statin drug can be beneficial and may lower bad cholesterol. After doing some research, in more cases than I suspected they also lead to muscle weakness. Bayor took their Stantin drug off the market for this reason. In my case, Zolcor (another Statin drug) left me unable to walk for several months. Of course, I am not a medical expert and you should always check with a physician. However, be careful. After not being able to go to the bathroom by myself for several months, I found it very painful to be told that the benefits to the whole population out way the risks to me as an individual. Thanks to several of you who wrote me in the hospital. Tom

I wish to compliment and thank all of our classmates who created and continue to update information on this web page. This is an outstanding way to stay connected to all of you who were so important during my "formative" years at Ramsey. I have lived in the Billings, Montana area since 1975. After teaching upper elementary school for 19 years, I have been an elementary school principal for 14 years. After graduating from the University of Minnesota in 1974, I taught in Wayzata, MN for 1 year. In 1975, my wife Connie Pace (Kellogg H.S.),son Jason, and I moved to Billings, MT. I was married to Connie until 1990. We had a daughter, KaLyn in 1979. Connie and I divorced in 1990 and have remain good friends. I remained a single person until 2004, and then met and married Nancy Gluekert. We met through attending a Christian Bible study through the large Christian church we both attended. Together, we have 5 grown children, with four of them married and currently have 5 grandchildren. Interests and activities: 1. We have a great home with acreage and currently have 3 horses. We enjoy riding and driving our steads. 2. We both love to travel and have visited many places around the world. I am always accused of having another trip planned for the near future. 3. For my close Ramsey friends I need to tell you that I am still playing competitve hockey every winter. Last winter our team won the Montana "Senior" Olympics in Bozeman. I still love the game, although I realize that I get slower (or is it that the younger guys get faster?) each season. I would love to hear from any of you that would like to get in touch. Survived by sons Loren, David/AKA Bill Langman, and Peter (Glenda) of North Oaks; sister Sadie Kreilkamp; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 24 nephews and nieces. Preceded by her husband of 64 years, Merrill. Born in Portal, N.D., Esther was a graduate of Minneapolis Central and the U of M. Friends will gather to remember her at the Roseville branch library, Hamline & B, 2-4 PM Saturday, Sept. 15. Memorials to the Ramsey County library system.

My friend, Gene Branson, (class of 1971) lost a courageous 2 year battle with a brain tumor on Saturday night. He endured 2 operations and 2 years of treatments.
Gene has been living in Colorado for many years and I would always touch base with him when I visited there. He always made time to see me and get together for skiing or other fun.
Gene's Mom has been caring for him in Colorado for the past 2 years. Because of his deteriorating condition, they returned to Minnesota on August 18 for help from family and hospice care.
His mom called me last night to let me know he had died and that there would be a service this week. She told me his obit would be in the paper starting today but it is not (maybe Wed. ?)

Hi! Cindy's research efforts finally uncovered me. I've been rather mobile -- went to college in Colorado, taught in Montana, got a masters degree in MT, moved back to MN where I worked for the State for about 15 years and then worked as an independent consultant for 4, then I got an offer I couldn't refuse and came to Missouri. Earlier this year I got laid off from the wonderful job and (oh, the joys of being over 50) am finding the opportunities for highly experienced people to be very limited. So, once again I am trying independent consulting but this time am mixing it with some writing. I have been wandering around the combined websites and have found several people I had lost track of since high school. It's good to make connections again. Thanks, Cindy, for tracking me down.

As Bob & I begin to look over the blue prints for the house we are building and one day we will be retirning to, it does not seem that High Scool was that long ago. I watch our grown children plan for their future and remember what it was like to be that age, not so long ago. I hope you are all happy in your lives as I am, I have my best freind at my side to spend my sunset's with.

Thanx for the info on John McCarty, and the work that you are doing to update our gr8 class - the best ever. :-) Sad to see about John's demise - didn't know him that well, but/and considered him a friend - the BEST pool player in our class (Billy Cardinal comes in a close second). 'Course, that was thirty-seven years ago. I lost track of him since high school, but now I am back - gratefully.

John Francis McCarty - Deceased When searching the internet to help update the information on our classmates, I found John McCarty's father. He informed me that John died of a brain tumor in January 2003. I don't have any additional details. I have John's father's phone number if anyone has a need to contact him.

Not much has changed since we last got together. Karen (my wife) and I still own a tannimg salon in Forest Lake however we are getting closer to the point of selling and starting some other adventure. We are empty nesters so we spend alot of time at our childrens homes helping them with various projects. It would be great to see you all again.

It is so nice to see all the names I grew up with. Its great to know so many are happy and healthy. I moved to California a few years ago and love it. Hopefully it would work out to be at the next get together in Minnesota. Stay well.

I'm going into my 31st year of marriage to Roy, who keeps me hopping and moving every few years (life with a Realtor!). My eldest son got out of the Marines (yes, me, the mother of a scout sniper!) and is going to college at my institution. My youngest, will be graduting with a masters degree from the London School of Economics in May and heading to Tulane Law School this fall. Hi everyone! I am going to be in Minnesota from July 20 - July 25 visiting my dad. I would love to get together with some of you one day or evening. If anyone is interested, send me an email. On the home frone, my husband has been on disability leave since Feb. and we are trying different meds to see if something will work. My youngest daughter, Julianne, is coming with me and is making noises about a wedding in Nov. Oldest daughter Jennifer is moving back in with her husband after a separation of about a year. Here's hoping things work better this time. I am still teaching 8th grade physical science. I am the treasurer of the Jefferson County Educators Assn. and that has kept me busy too. We bargained the whole contract this year, bought a new building and are hooping to be moved in by the end of the summer. I have the marble tiles for my bathroom walls sitting here but haven't had a moment to work on them. Ah well, at least I am not bored. Hope all are having a great summer. Jan

Oh my, I've just spent 2 hours reading the website. I guess I'd better add my part to the story. I went off to PLU in Tacoma Washington, discovered Washington mosquitoes are mostly vegetarian and that you don't have to shovel the rain. Went to the U of Washington for an MS in Marine Botany. Married and divorced an alcoholic during that time. Then went back to night school for something I could earn living at: computers (I was the only girl in the computer club back at Ramsey and I don't think any of us noticed). I've been happily married for 15 years and just sold my computer training business to try stained glass full time (see www.seymourstainedglass.com for more). I just wanted to let everyone know that Darrell Rahn passed away. Darrell's widow told me that he died of a massive heart attack. Posted below is his obituary. Darrell Sydney Rahn Darrell Sydney Rahn, 54, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, in Reston Hospital. Mr. Rahn was born Nov. 16, 1952, in St. Paul, Minn., son of Henrietta Bocke Rahn of Two Harbors, Minn., and the late Frederick Rahn. He was a telecommunication engineer for TNS in Reston for six years, a horseman and a pilot. He was a member of Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in Missouri. Surviving with his mother are his wife, Sandra Kay Johnson Rahn, whom he married in July of 1976; daughter, Renee Weston of Oakdale, Minn.; sister, Wilma Rahn of Two Harbors; brother, Donald Rahn of Popsham, Maine; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted Monday, Dec. 4, Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester.im

Its been a while since I commented on Tom Maze's condition... Tom has made progress since my last comment. He is currently in a rehab facility. The virus that attacked and weakened his heart, appears to have attacked and weakened his legs to the point where he could no longer stand up. He can now stand up from his bed, but from the wheel chair is another story. (Its much lower and he needs assistance.) He is also reading his email regularly and he will get this. At least things are progressing toward the positive, now. - Jim

-Status update on Tom Maze- Well, another week has passed and he is still in the hospital. Apparently, a team of 5 doctors visited him this week and told him that he would be hospitalized for a long time. Probably until he was able to get a heart transplant. The virus did too much damage. This morning, Leslie said that they think part of his problem now is that he is dehydrated. So, they are going to rehydrate him. He was out of ICU, the they moved him back to ICU for a while and now he's back in a private room. - Jim

Update on Tom Maze. Tom's wife, Leslie, called earlier this week. Tom has recovered enough for the doctors to be able to do some diagnostic work. They were able to do a biopsy on his heart and they found that his heart had a virus. Tom is presently on antibiotic that should kill the virus. Leslie was told that Tom should be well enough at the end of this week to go home. That's the good news. The bad news is that Tom will need a heart transplant. Given his size and that he will need a heart from someone his size and blood type, the chances are greatly diminished on finding a matching donor. I'm not sure what his prognosis is beyond this. I'm sure we will find out more this weekend. Take care, Jim

I originally resisted adding an entry about the following subject, but things appear to be changing for the worst, so I thought you might all like to know. Tom Maze has been my neighbor on Bald Eagle Lake for about 8 years. So, we have reconnected and socialize quite often. Our wives have become friends. Tom's wife, Leslie, called last week and gave us some very bad news. Tom was in the hospital in ICU at the U of MN. He has a Pulminory Embolism (blood clot in the lungs) and has congestive heart failure. He is in very serious trouble. This evening, Leslie called and said that the doctors have rated his condition. 40 is good. 20 is heart transplant. Tom's rating is 15. Obviously, this is bad. I resisted adding this entry because Tom is a very private person and might not be happy with my email. But I am very concerned. When Tom checked into the hospital, he told Leslie that he didn't want any visitors. Well, he's in ICU, so no one can visit him anyway. Leslie and their family can visit, but no one else can. About the only thing that anyone can do for them is pray or send a card. Take care, Jim

It's been great hearing from everyone. For those of you that don't know, I married Larry. We will be celebrating 35 years this year. We moved to Little Falls in 1977. We have four great kids. The oldest is 32 and the youngest is 19. We have 5 grandkids and another on the way. We have tried a few different things on the farm. We milked cows (registered Jersys) for 17 yrs. and then switched to beef. Last year we sold our commerical herd and bought a registered herd of Scotish Highlands. We also would like to wish everyone a great New Year. Hope to see everyone at the next get together.

We changed our email address awhile ago and have missed getting these updates. Thanks to all who work to make this possible....we enjoy hearing from everyone. We get together often with Barb (Bruns) Brandt and she connected me back up with the website. My husband Al and I have lived in St. Cloud for 32 years and I have taught math the entire time....(looking to retire in a coupole years) Our oldest daughter, Lisa, is an Athletic Trainer for Centennial High School, is married and living in Blaine. Younger daughter, Michelle, is in her 3rd year at Mayo Medical School. Looking forward to the next Rams '70 reunion!!

Just a short note on what’s been going on in my life. I was blessed with one amazing son that I’ve been raising as a single mom since he was three years old. He turns 20 in February and is a sophomore attending the University of St. Thomas, majoring in Economics, but told me a few days ago he’d like to become a pharmacist.

Speaking about being naive, Lonni, while I was a senior at RAHS I worked part-time for the state of Minnesota typing drivers licenses. I didn’t know that there was much out there, so I ended up staying 12 years! Finally, I discovered the world…I ventured out to CA, and while there ended up modeling in San Francisco. After a few years I returned to MN and became a typographer for an advertising agency and now I’m working back at the State of MN as a Research Analyst.

One nice perk for parents who have children attending UST is we can go to school for free. So last year I took my FIRST college courses. I plan to continue at UST and pursue a certification as a GIS mapping expert. I will then pursue a new career path in a related field.

Three years ago I met a great guy who has been very supportive and has provided me with inspiration. He was the Water Resource Engineering Director at the State of MN. Ironically, although we both worked for the State we never crossed paths at work, until we were introduced by a mutual acquaintance. Now he works as a Senior Project Director for PBS&J in Sacramento (he comes home once a month). Right before Thanksgiving we were engaged to be married and I will be joining him in CA once my son and I have completed our educations.

First of all, thank you Dave for fixing the Spam problem! Also for continuing to provide us with this means of communicating. It certainly has been fun reconnecting with high school classmates and hearing how lives have evolved and changed. Personally I am extremely grateful for having moved beyond huge insecurities and fears that plagued me while in high school. That was painful, to say the least. Embarrassing too! But as hard as it was being that insecure, it eventually led me to finding my passion which is around personal and spiritual growth. Since embarking upon that path, I have experienced incredible transformation. Today life is fun and wonderful. Arthur and I will be spending Christmas in Florida with family. Looks like I’m one of the 200 or so not using the website, so here goes. Reading some of the previous entries I guess I know now who some of my new neighbors are. Have been in Hugo for the past 26 yrs and living in a community with so much open space within 25 miles of downtown one had to expect development to come eventually. Still prefer the open space myself. We had our #2 son, Kyle, graduate from H.S. in June and is now attending IPR in Minneapolis studying to become a production recording engineer. Our #1 son is in his junior year at the University of Oklahoma majoring in Meteorology. The holiday season finds us well and wishing all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Doug

Just wanted to say hello to all of our classmates. Hope everyone is well and wishing you all the best for the Holiday Season and the coming year!

I have been particularly blessed with a wonderful wife and three beautiful children. We have lived in Mendota Heights for the past 20 years. Our oldest, Ryan, is following his old man's footsteps and studying architecture at the Univ of Minnesota (go Gophers!). Lauren and Alana are at Minnehaha Academy, both playing hockey for the school team and doing excellent academically, while also being involved in theater and the Minnesota Youth Symphony. All three are active in their church youth group as well and are wayyy better kids than I was in high school!!

I've enjoyed a very enriching career at BWBR Architects in downtown St Paul - I have a wonderful group of partners, many of whom are best friends. This past year we were sad to see Jay Sleiter retire(another Ramsey grad, class of '67 and married to our classmate Cathy Anderson). We are now up to 140 employees and growing, with a great group of clients, including most every hospital in town, along with several colleges and corporate clients who keep bringing us more work.

Although I'm not a great golfer, I really enjoy it and manage to get out once a year with Jim Moore and Kent Erickson - they're not so great at it either, but we always have a lot of fun! Also I usually manage a winter golf trip with Greg Malm and our wives - he's living in Dubuque and selling investments for Dubuque Bank.

Someone (Chuck?) suggested another get-together this year - I think it's time to do it again as well!

They live in Fort Collins, CO. She is working on a PHD (Atmospheric Sciences) and he just passed the CO bar and has a job with a law firm there. My son, Matt, moved to an animal house near the U of M on the same weekend. So, My wife and I are "empty nest" and finding new and exciting things to do!

I always run into old high school pals and recently saw Tim J daly. He invited me to his home to watch his "rock band" rehearse!! What fun. I'm not sure if they were called "The Portables" or "The Affordables" but its one or the other. They play someplace up in Cambridge regularly and will be playing at "Stars and Strikes" entertainment center in Wyoming, MN sometime in January. I will keep you posted on the date.

Great to hear from so many friends before the holidays. One of my daughters graduated from MCAD this May with a major in painting. My other daughter got engaged in August. We must be getting older, eh? After almost 30 years at the U of M, I'll be starting a new job, Dean of International Education, on January 22, at the University of California at San Diego. I've given my new address as of Jan 18.

Hi everyone, I had to add my input to the last few as I too have a son living in Hugo. Must be the place to live! He just blessed us with our first grandchild. Owen was born Aug 30. It was just what we needed as my dad died suddenly this summer and we were reminded how life continues with this beautiful baby. Steve and I live in Lino Lakes and I am still an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for the Robbinsdale School District. My son Andy is the Assistant General Manger at Tria restaurant in North Oaks and my daughter Amy is a diamond expert at Jareds Galleria of Jewelery at Southdale. If any one wants jewerly for Christmas, she knows her stuff! I keep in touch with Craig Bakken (he and my husband have become best friends) and he too lost a parent this summer. It was a tough summer for both of us as our parents were/are best of friends. But, we are getting to that age where we are the caretakers of our kids and parents. I feel blessed to be able to do just that. Merry Christmas to all!

Isn't it interesting how spam can get a few of us to write updates. Congrats to Steve Schield for his new adventure. Congrats to Ginny Mueller on coming grandchild. It reminds me of something I heard lately that made me laugh. Someone at work said. "Its not so bad being a grandfather, but I never dreamed I'd be sleeping with a grandmother!" Ginny and I have something in common. Our son just moved into a house that he built in Hugo, also. Its a beautiful home off or 145th and Goodview. He is a contractor. He worked an extra 35 hours a week from August to November to get it done. He has his mother's stamina! Youthful exuberance is wonderful. Carole and I have been truly blessed. We have two great kids. Both are grown up and independent. Adam is married and Lynnea is single, happy and has a very serious mate. Both are employed and successful at their chosen field. Carole and I are living in our dream home on Bald Eagle Lake. We just bought 1/2 interest in a unit at Larsmont Cottages on Lake Superior and I am sitting right now typing this watching the waves come in on Lake Superior. If you ever think of staying on the north shore, Larsmont is brand new and the units are gorgeous. Its just 15 miles north of Duluth. Off we go again. Wendi and I are moving to Seattle on Dec. 16th. She is going to be associate pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, Washington and I continue to be retired. I bought a "vacation" home for the family in Moses Lake, WA, about 3 hours east of Seattle in the desert. (As close as I could get to something like Minnesota minus the mosquitos, leeches, ticks and humidity. (sorry) I will be spending the next year remodelling the old farm house and sub-dividing the lots, hoping to earn my keep. Our first son, Scott is finishing his MBA work at the university of Washington, our second son, Ryan got a "D" in his first quarter of calculus at Seattle Pacific University so we will be having a chat during Christmas Break. Our daughter, Elaine, is graduating early, going on a Abby road semester in Italy, then starting at Seattle Pacific in the fall. If any RAMS are living in the greater Seattle area please contact me. Everyone I know in Seattle is related to my wife so it would be good to connect with some people from MY past! Life has been very, very good for the past few years. My middle daughter, Megan is expecting my first granchild in April. Actually April 1st. Surely it's a joke that I could actually be at granmother stage. It's exciting just a hard title to swollow...Still single :-).Daughter 3, Autumn, is at Stout, and daughter 1, Tatum is at the Art Institute in Mpls. Me, Mananging our Love From MN store in the IDS. Just plugging along,. Looking at downsizing so have been looking at all the options out there. Meg and Dan just finished their home in Hugo so possibly looking north. I knew Gary and Holly well "back in the day". I'm glad Gary has recovered. I spoke with Holly at length at one of the reunions (10th I think) same "Old Holly". Nice to hear she is dealing with a such tragedy so well.I met her husband he was a stock exchange floor guy. You know those guys you see yelling "Buy,buy, sell! He had a history of heart problems I guess. High stress job. Thanks for filling us in . I'm still @ 3M not traveling as much as I used to. (Went to Paris this spring after reading the DaVinci Code) and Debbie is still at the U of M along with my oldsest son (both working there not going to school). The younger one is @ St. Paul College due to graduate in August. Looking forward to seeing you all at the next gathering.How about an "We all turn 55" Party? The 50th was a gas! “The Joint” is a very casual little biker bar near downtown Minneapolis. I typically run into people I know there because I go there too often. Yesterday (Sunday) morning I headed there alone for screwdrivers, breakfast and football. I ran into my friends Gary and Laura Meyers at a table having breakfast with three others. They invited me to join them.

Gary is a Ramsey grad (’68?) who is recuperating nicely from a serious motorcycle accident a few years ago on the freeway in south Minneapolis. Gary suffered a traumatic head injury and was comatose for months. He has been through extensive physical and mental therapy and has had to relearn everything from talking to walking and, thankfully, now seems to be mostly rehabilitated. But he is not why or what I wanted to post here today.

After some hasty introductions to his “sisters”, one of them being what I thought I heard as “Polly”, and a few minutes of connecting the dots of the past…. I realized his sister was our 1970 classmate “Holly Meyers”. (married Blake) Holly did not remember me and only thought I looked vaguely familiar. (I would not expect her to remember me, we were never close.) But, we chit chatted for awhile and caught up on each others lives. Her story was very heartwarming and I don’t think she would mind if I share some of it here.

Some time ago (about 1990) Holly’s 13 year old son tragically died of an asthma attack. To add further sadness, she said she believed her husband never fully got over the loss. And, in recent years, he had done a poor job caring for himself and also died at home last summer of heart failure. Holly seemed a little irked to be a mid 50’s and “left to be on my own”, but generally, she was very hopeful and looked forward to the rest of her life. She hoped it would include helping others through their own personal tragedies. She assured me “it can be done”, and I felt very proud to have known her, nostalgic, reconnected and kinda mushy even.

Holly lives in the western suburbs of Chicago and works as a hairdresser there. She has a single 27 year old daughter who lives on Chicago’s trendy near north side and is also a hairdresser. Holly says she is “very beautiful” and that they are as close to one another as a mother and daughter can be. She wanted to be sure she was notified of any upcoming reunion and promised to absolutely show up. I’m sure she would want to say hello to everyone here but doesn’t do eMail. I look forward to seeing her at a 40th reunion. It is coming faster than I want it to.

Just a message that classmate Jeanne DeMars' husband, Kent Rassett, died on Dec. 17, after an illness that began last February. His obit is in both major papers today (Dec. 19). She appreciated my offer to send out this notice.

Well I hope everyone is having a Great Summer! So far it's been great here. Nothing for me. My Hubby travels alot for work and when he's not working, he's up in Motley,Mn farming with his Dad. So it's just my two grand kids and my Maltese dogs....nice. I raise and show Maltese for a hobby. I had heart surgery last Sept. and am still gaining back my strength, ever since. So glad to be alive. My Mom died having the same surgery....So enjoy everything and everybody now! Life is only a gift, that ends too soon! Love you all! Sandy

James Fred Rust Rust, James Fred - Jim passed peacefully on-ward Last Friday, June 24th, of colon cancer. He was 54 years old. He is survived by Joanne Moyer Rust, wife, St Paul, MN; Richard H. and Laura E. Rust, parents, Falcon Heights, St Paul, MN; Deanna M. Rust, sister, Lincoln NE; Richard J. Rust, brother, Falcon Heights, St Paul, MN; Mark A. Rust, brother, sister-in-law Joyce Rust, niece Nicole Rust of Hutchinson, MN, and nephew Nathan Rust, Minneapolis, MN; Robert Rust, brother, Willernie, MN; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in and around Bunker Hill, Illinois. He has also left behind so many friends and loved ones whose lives were bettered by knowing him, including Holly and Natha lie Raab, and Cathy Garahan. Jim graduated from Alexander Ramsey High School in 1969, became involved with theatre at Carleton College, spending the next decade as an actor and director, and founded the 'Open Door Summer Shakespeare Company' in Boston. But he had developed a special love of Greece ever since his fifth-grade teacher loaned him Edith Hamilton's 'Greek Mythology,' and planned to eventually become an archaeologist. In 1985, Jim received his BA in Anthropology at the University of Minnesota, followed by his Masters in Classical Archaeology at the State University of New York, Albany. He did additional graduate work at Boston University, was a Keck Fellow, and received a research fellowship at the University of Western Australia, Perth. During his graduate studies he contributed to archaeological research in Jordan, Egypt and Greece. Upon returning to the States, he wanted to share with others his passion for the Minoan Civilization of Bronze Age Greece, and began 'Beyond Travel,' taking a small group of people to Crete. Later this idea developed into 'Earth Odyssey for Youth,' a non-profit organization he created in the year 2000, dedicated to taking at-risk teens to see the wonders of the world, but the realities of making a living instead led him to begin a cultural resources management firm, '4G Consulting,' and his focus turned to North American archaeology. Wherever and whatever Jim did, every moment of his too short life was always flavored by his deep love for his family, his wife and his home, his humor and enjoyment of the arts, and most especially for all things baseball. A memorial service will be held 7PM, Wednesday, June 29th, at EMMAUS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1074 W. Idaho Ave., St. Paul, Ph: 651-489-9426, with visiting for family and friends to follow. Thought I should do an update. I became a grandmother for the first time on May 2 of this year. Oldest daughter, Deidra, and her husband, Scott, blessed us with an adorable little boy named Liam Forbes Aley. Youngest daughter, Jessica, and her fiancee, Jim, got married on March 19 of this year. So far, they are content to raise Black Labs while they build their new home. Another sad note. Last week Mike Lobalestra passed away. He graduated in '69 and was a state champion in wrestling. He was Ned Hansen's brother-in-law. His family had owned Lido's.

I just wanted everyone to know that our classmate and my good friend Jeanne Willis lost her daughter Kelly Thompson in a car accident on Sunday, June 20, 2005, she was 18 year old, just graduated from high school and was going to start college this fall. She was a great kid and a wonderful daughter to Jeanne.

Setting up this facility was a good idea. It is helpful in keeping up and I was for instance sorry to hear of Jim Carter and Greg Scully passing away earlier this year, and of course condolences re the loss announced earlier today. I trust those that could make it had a good reunion meeting on the 13th of December. I hope there will be a 35th reunion and would like to attend that. This year has been what is called "character forming". After being successfully treated for thyroid cancer 18 years ago I was diagnosed with a new, unrelated and more aggessive cancer in June of this year. Thanks to a great surgeon and team at Johns Hopkins and thanks also to wonderful support from family and friends including being put on the prayer list of their family church in Minnesota by Linda Sorenson,I am all clear and feeling great. I am looking forward to leaving cold and grey London later this week with my wife Vanessa, to spend a holiday in warm and sunny South Africa and at my favourite hotel and beach on the Indian Ocean. Vanessa has been wonderfully supportive and needs the holiday more than me! May you all have a wonderful Christmas and a healthy, happy and prosperous 2005. With best wishes to all, Vaughn

The highlight of last night was recollecting verbatim -with Steve Patrick - an incident during health class that revealed how Larry Overski (son of Lars) had become such a great sportsman. It went like this: Classmate, "Mr Overski, since you say we should refrain from maturbation... what do you suggest we do when we feel the urge?" Mr. Overski, "Go outside and shoot a few baskets." Classmate, "Is that how Larry got so good?"

I saw Larry last Saturday at Midway Ford. He works there. He reports Lars is still "kickin" and doing fine. Larry had never heard the story before. Now its on the internet.

If anyone else that couldn't make it last night wants to get together before Christmas, count me in. (Last night was fun but the turnout was weak) Mike Phippen wants to do it sometime after the 17th. Chuck Drange can be the official designator of time and place. Cheers

We are so fortunate to have classmates that continually like to get together. Sorry I missed last night - I was traveling on business. I guess it's that time of year to wish everyone the True Blessing of Christmas! Norm and I have just found out that our two oldest Daughters, are planning a Double Wedding! Oh boy! (Melanie and Tracy) Mel is 32 and Tracy is 30! My Son Nate is 28,(Not married) and my youngest girl Shelly (26) ,is married and has two wonderful girls,3yrs. and one years old! I was on cloud nine, thinking about all the full we as a family would be having, when Tracy called me on her cell....The weddings are planned for Jan.19th,I could tell something was on Tracy's mind....Well Tracy has a great job. So does Scott,beautiful new home in Woodberry, nice cars....what could it be? Well,she is 6 wks along....What a Blessing!I just laughed, when she said,"I'm not ready for this, Mom!" Tracy and Scott have a dog,Cody. I thought he was going to be my Grandson! LOL The baby is due, in July...I guess that brings you up do date on the kids. Norm still works in Hudson,Wis.and drives one hr. to and from everyday. Sept 17th I had open Heart surgery, and I am doing fine! Yes , life is good, and looking forward to the next year! End of April our first grandchild arrives and from the news from oldest daughter just a few minutes ago, we've got a grandson on the way!!!! Very best Christmas gift ever!!! Would love to get together with everyone for Christmas but can we do it somewhere a bit warmer? Like Tucson or Phoenix? We're thinking of heading there for the Oregon St. vs. Notre Dame game. In response to Chuck Drange's question if anyone was getting together for some holiday cheer!!! I have a suggestion. Anyone interested please come to O'gara's on Monday Dec. 13th, 7pm to ? The last time we did an impromptu thing about 10 or 15 showed up. There should be plenty of room on a Monday for a relaxing get together for a small group. Also, their will be some entertainment in a side room. The second Monday of each month Ogara's features "The Cedar Avenue Big Band". It just so happens that the band's Drummer, Phil Hey, was a Ramsey grad of '71. Phil also has jazz a group "The Phil Hey Quartet" that I heard play at the Artist's Quarter in St. Paul in November. Hi everyone! This is a great website - thanks to each of you who were responsible for setting it up, and to all who maintain it. Although I have not been able to attend the recent gatherings over the past few years, I have greatly enjoyed reading everyone's entries on this website and catching up. I want to extend a special "thank you" to Julie Erickson (Patrick), who gave me the address for this website. A quick personal update - I have been married 33 years as of this month, and have three great children. Jim Carter passed away today, May 21st, of cancer. There will be a service for him at English, Meeker, Kandt Funeral Home in S St Paul on Monday May 24th.

I was very sad to read about Greg Scully's passing I remember him at school, he shall be greatly missed.On another note, I thought you all should know my husband and I will be grandparents for a third time sometime in late November or early December my daughter Kathryn is expecting again.

I was married on October 31st, 2003 to my fiancee, Michael T. Dosh, of almost 2 years, in a very small private ceremony consisting of Michael's parents Ted and Carolyn dosh; my 2 children Kathryn Hadland(26)and Richard Hadland(24), my son in law Robert Hadland, and my two grandchildren Korrin Hadland(5)and Marc Hadland(almost4).
